Our History
- MGTS is an educational charity that first began operating in Coventry in 1965. The Head Office on Gulson Road is now home to over 100 new engineering apprentices each year, as well as training delegates undertaking a wide range of technical courses and skills assessments.
- Expansion plans in 2013 resulted in a new MGTS Technical Centre in Redditch to meet growing market demand for engineering apprentice training. The Centre was re-located in 2017 to larger premises after a £1.5 million private & public sector investment collaboration. A dedicated Food & Drink Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship facility was officially opened in July 2019.
- June 2024 saw MGTS achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted Inspection rating in all areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management, Apprenticeships). The report can be viewed here.
- New training facilities at the Coventry Centre were completed in the autumn of 2024, enhancing the experience and range of courses available to industry delegates.
- As an organisation we review our strategic objectives on a regular basis to ensure that we are best meeting the needs and expectations of our customers, apprentices and colleagues.

Our site locations
Our training locations all have excellent connections to transport networks and have ample onsite car parking facilities for both training delegates and apprentices.
Coventry
Our largest facility in Coventry caters to over 100 Apprentices, as well as being the main location for upskilling and skills analysis.
Redditch
This centre focuses on apprentice training for the regional engineering industry and national companies within the Food and Drink sector.
